About the Role

THE MISSION

As K2's Distribution Mobility Planner, you'll be the orchestrator behind complex distribution and transportation operations that keep critical missions moving. You'll synchronize movement of personnel, equipment, materials, and assets across distribution networks, ensuring timely, efficient, and cost-effective delivery when the stakes are high.

Working with internal teams, carriers, field operations, and external stakeholders, you'll develop executable movement plans, resolve constraints, and maintain visibility across the distribution lifecycle. Your planning expertise will directly impact operational success in dynamic environments where adaptability is everything.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Coordinate end-to-end distribution and mobility planning for deployment, redeployment, sustainment, and retrograde operations
Develop movement plans for self-deploying and lift-supported assets, including personnel, equipment, and cargo
Synchronize transportation activities across internal teams, external carriers, ports, terminals, and logistics partners
Maintain situational awareness of available transportation capacity, lift capabilities, routing options, and infrastructure constraints
Continuously refine plans during execution to respond to changing operational requirements, delivery timelines, and network disruptions
Conduct feasibility assessments of transportation options, including internal fleet, common-user transportation, third-party logistics providers, and strategic lift resources
Identify movement constraints such as staging limitations, asset shortfalls, infrastructure bottlenecks, hazardous conditions, or bed down restrictions, and recommend mitigation actions
Use planning, modeling, simulation, and data analysis tools to optimize routing, throughput, and delivery sequencing
Support in-transit visibility by tracking personnel, cargo, and equipment throughout the transportation network and resolving delays or exceptions
Balance competing demands for distribution assets and develop deconfliction strategies aligned to operational priorities
Coordinate with planners, operations teams, and stakeholders to validate movement requirements, schedules, and execution data
Ensure timely delivery of logistics support to meet required delivery dates and service-level expectations
Prepare reports, dashboards, and planning updates for leadership and operational stakeholders
Support emergency response, surge operations, network recovery, and other high-tempo logistics initiatives as needed

WHAT YOU BRING

Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Transportation, Operations Management, Engineering, Business, or related field (equivalent relevant experience considered)
5+ years of experience in logistics planning, transportation operations, distribution planning, mobility planning, or supply chain coordination
Experience coordinating complex transportation or movement activities across multiple stakeholders and locations
Strong understanding of multimodal transportation, distribution operations, routing, scheduling, and capacity planning
Experience using transportation management systems, ERP platforms, tracking tools, or logistics planning systems
Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, including proficiency with Excel and reporting tools
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to coordinate across cross-functional teams
Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, dynamic environments with shifting priorities

  • Knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, TSA, OSHA, IATA, IMO, customs, or hazardous materials compliance requirements

  • Experience supporting time-phased movement planning, large-scale mobilizations, or complex field operations

  • Familiarity with JOPES, TPFDD, ULN validation, force flow planning, or coordination with USTRANSCOM or similar organizations

  • APICS CPIM, CSCP, or CLTD certification

  • PMP certification

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt
